That’s a good question. I have spent quite a number of years as a vendor for software application. During that time, we are not only ‘selling’ software but must solve the customer’s problems. The software should meet their needs and help them meet their objectives. Hence the consultative nature of our sales approach. I find this method very effective when you aim to maintain long-term and professional relationships.
